This level will introduce students to searching for books and other resources using Search.
Understanding Call Numbers
Call Numbers, on the spine of most Library books, are used to place books in subject order. For example, a book with Call Number 521.0155 is between 521 and 521.1 on the shelves.
That is: 521...521.0155...521.1!
When searching for a book, record its full Call Number, for example, Q021.20994/F353L (Q means Quarto section of the 000's in Dixson Library).
Call numbers are also on signs on the end of the shelves. These signs will help you find where your book is located.
There are also maps located on each floor in the Central Stairwell of Dixson Library, as well as online. These maps will show you where the different call numbers are located (for example, the 500's are located Level 4 of Dixson Library).

Using Library Search
To search for Library resources (such as books, journals and more), use Library Search via the Library homepage.
To find resources go to Library Search (purple tab) which will show you what books, journals and other resources that the Library has. In addition, Library Search can locate specific journals.
