For UNE Educational Developers and Unit Coordinators

This resource is for staff developing content for UNE units.

About this resource

If you're developing course content for UNE units, you'll usually want to use content that is not owned by the University.  This can include images, journal articles, YouTube clips and the like.  It's important for you to understand the copyright environment you're working in.

Third-party copyright
Use of any content not owned by the University - often referred to as 'third-party copyright' - will need to comply with the Copyright Act, or any Licence conditions that may apply to the content.

This resource is about 'third-party copyright'.  It's about finding and using third party copyright resources for use in UNE Units.  But mostly it's about making sure the copyright considerations are properly addressed in any content that you want to use, but have not authored.

UNE Copyright
Original content developed by UNE staff for UNE units, and existing UNE course content developed by UNE staff, will be owned by the University, all rights reserved.  UNE authored content should not be released openly, including under a Creative Commons Licence, without first seeking clearance from the University.  You should contact the University Copyright Office in the first instance.
