PDF handling

With EN X7, you can assign an automatic import PDF folder on your computer for the PDFs you wish to add to your EndNote library. By adding PDFs to this special folder, the next time you open your EndNote library, these PDFs will be imported in automatically. If there is an existing record in your EndNote, the PDF will be attached to the record when imported.

Firstly, create this folder in its desired location (for example, desktop). Now, go to your EN library. Click on EndNote X7, then select preferences, and then PDF handling.

Tick the box next to Enable automatic importing and choose the new folder.

 Endnote Preferences Enable automatic importing

Now select the desired PDF Auto Renaming option- this means that when the PDFs are imported into the EndNote library, they will be renamed as desired. Click Save.

Now add the PDFs you wish to import into your import folder.

Now close and then re-open your EndNote library. Each time you now open your EndNote Library, it will check and automatically import any new PDFs in your PDF import folder.
